Stark Plastic Surgery

Liposuction with Dr. Stark is much more than simple fat removal - you can achieve chiseled tone and sculpted shape with VASER. For potential liposuction patients whose priority is a more sculpted shape and lean contour, high def VASER liposuction may be the ideal solution. Schedule your private consultation with Dr. Stark at the StarkMD Plastic Surgery and Aesthetic Center in the Philadelphia area to discuss your unique goals and receive your customized surgical plan.

What is High Def Liposuction?

VASER stands for, “Vibration Amplification of Sound Energy at Resonance.” It is best to think of high def VASER liposuction as a body sculpting and contouring procedure, rather than primarily a fat removal procedure. Like traditional liposuction, high definition VASER liposuction removes fat pockets above muscle groups that may be difficult or impossible to target with diet or exercise.

High Def VASER liposuction employs high frequency ultrasonic sound waves to liquify fat before removing it from the body, allowing Dr. Stark unparalleled control and precision. Typically, Dr. Stark removes smaller amounts of stubborn fat to reveal the muscle tone a patient has already been working diligently to achieve. Fat cells in the body are held together with delicate connective tissue. High frequency sound waves shake the fat away without damaging surrounding tissues, allowing for less aggressive suctioning of fat and smoother results.

High definition VASER liposuction delivers beautifully on its name: Dr. Stark regularly creates artfully sculpted contour for his patients using this advanced liposuction technique. This technique is appropriate for targeting fat above muscle groups such as:

  • Upper arms
  • Chest
  • Abdomen
  • Buttocks
  • Flanks
  • Thighs

Is High Def Liposuction right for me?

High def VASER liposuction is not a long-term weight loss solution. This procedure is better suited to those who have maintained a healthy weight for some time but wish to see more definition and “pop” of their musculature and shape. While many patients can benefit from this specialized form of liposuction, it is a particularly popular procedure for men and women who wish to see better “six pack” ab definition and prominence.

Recovery from High Def Liposuction

High Def VASER liposuction is performed under general anesthesia and can last between one and four hours. This will largely depend on how many areas of the body are targeted for treatment and whether you choose to add fat transfer to your surgery for additional contour.

You should be prepared to take at least one week off work after surgery. You will be fitted with a compression garment to help reduce swelling and fluid buildup. For about four weeks, this garment must be worn at all times except when showering. In addition, drains will be placed to draw out excess fluid from the treated areas.

Vigorous activity must be avoided for at least two weeks, but most patients can begin to ramp back up to their normal exercise routine after that period. Your full results will not be visible until you have fully recovered from your procedure, approximately six months later, but most of the swelling will resolve in about six weeks.
