How does Renuvion skin tightening work?

Renuvion combines radiofrequency energy (RF) and cold helium plasma (J Plasma) to provide safe, comfortable, and beautiful results with less downtime than more invasive treatments. This combination of energies enables Renuvion to treat loose and sagging skin with a minimally-invasive procedure. While Renuvion J-Plasma is an excellent "standalone" skin tightening treatment, it can often be effectively combined with other procedures such as liposuction to produce even more impressive results.

Benefits of Renuvion Skin Tightening

Looking your best is a big part of living your best life. Because the Renuvion radio frequency skin tightening device is so versatile, it can be used nearly anywhere on your face and body. Common treatment areas include:

  • Face
  • Neck, chest, and decolletage
  • Breasts or pectoral areas
  • Upper arms
  • Abdomen
  • Back and Flanks
  • Inner and outer thighs
  • Knees

Renuvion is a very precisely targeted treatment. As a result, it prevents damage to any adjacent tissues. The treatment is classified as a minimally-invasive procedure. Because the skin tightening device is inserted under the skin through very small entry points, post-procedure discomfort and scarring are minimized, as is recovery time.

Candidates for Renuvion Skin-Tightening Treatment

Renuvion is not for everyone. In general, most people who have mild to moderate skin laxity and are in overall good health are candidates. Renuvion can address skin elasticity issues and deliver skin tightening in a given treatment area.

Your consultation session at StarkMD Plastic Surgery & Aesthetic Center in Philadelphia, PA, will help you establish your aesthetic goals and determine if skin tightening is right for you. Choosing the right surgeon and healthcare organization will be the most important decision you make in considering Renuvion treatment. Your provider should be willing and eager to show you skin tightening before and after photos of previous Renuvion patients.

Risks and Side
Effects

While Renuvion treatment is considered a very safe procedure, general risks include infection, adverse reactions to anesthesia, and allergic reactions to medications and materials.

Undergoing Renuvion treatments from a highly-trained medical professional like the ones at StarkMD Plastic Surgery and Aesthetic Center is the best way to minimize the risk of these side effects. Led by Philadelphia board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Ran Stark, StarkMD Plastic Surgery and Aesthetic Center makes patient safety our top priority from the moment you come in for a consultation to long after your treatment is complete.

Skin Tightening Costs

Costs will vary according to the extent of your treatment area, the number of treatments, and whether your Renuvion procedure is combined with other treatments. Since skin tightening is a cosmetic treatment, your insurance will not pay for it.

Preparing for Your Renuvion Skin Tightening Treatment

Dr. Stark will meticulously review your medical history, including all previous surgeries. You will need to provide a list of all supplements and medications you are taking. For a specified period before and after your procedure, you will likely be directed to suspend the use of medications that could increase the risk of bleeding.

Your Skin Tightening
Procedure

If you and Dr. Stark have decided to proceed with skin tightening treatment, you will be given specific details on your procedure. Depending on the number and locations of treatment areas, your procedure may be performed under general anesthesia, local anesthesia with sedation, or local anesthesia. You should not experience any discomfort during your Renuvion treatment.

Once you are properly prepared and comfortable, Dr. Stark will make one or more small incisions in your treatment areas. The Renuvion probe instrument will be inserted just beneath the surface of your skin, allowing for precise, targeted treatment. Renuvion's energy stimulates collagen and tightens the fibroseptal network to reduce skin laxity and produce the intended results. The procedure usually takes about an hour or two, depending on the extent of the treatment. When your procedure is finished, you'll be able to return home. But make sure you have arranged for a driver as you will be unable to drive if you have received anesthesia or sedation.

Recovery

After your treatment, you'll feel some localized soreness, as well as some mild swelling. This is normal and should last only a few days. Over-the-counter medication should control any discomfort.

Following your treatment, you will need to wear a compression garment continuously for the first week, and at night for the next two weeks. Patients generally report they feel comfortable getting back to their normal routine quickly. Recovery will depend on the extent of the procedure and whether liposuction was performed at the same time. Dr. Stark will review the recovery period with you during your consultation.

Skin Tightening Results

Skin tightening reforms the collagen in your treated areas, so it takes between six and nine months to see final results. You will notice a gradual tightening of the skin as the effects begin to become visible.
