PHYSIQUE

Our Philadelphia body lift is a comprehensive surgical body reshaping procedure available at StarkMD Plastic Surgery & Aesthetic Center. It involves a combination of surgical procedures to restore a more youthful, shapely figure.

Upper body lift

An upper body lift involves two surgical procedures: A breast lift (mastopexy) and a arm lift (brachioplasty). One of the unfortunate aspects of aging is that the upper arms can become loose and flabby, and the breasts no longer looking perky and rounded, but now sag and droop.

An upper body lift addresses both of these issues, restoring a firm, fit appearance to the upper arms, and lifting and resculpting the breast tissue for youthful, more perky, firm, and rounded breasts.

Lower body lift

A lower body lift restores a lifted, taut, firm appearance to the buttocks and thighs. Over time, your buttocks may have sagged and flattened, and your thighs may be unsightly, with excess fat and sagging skin. A lower body lift, or thigh and buttocks lift, is a surgical procedure to restore the firm, fit, lifted look of a more youthful body.

Lower Body Lift
+ Tummy Tuck

A Tummy Tuck (also known as abdominoplasty) is a surgical procedure to restore the firm, fit, youthful look of your abdominal area.

Unfortunately, pregnancy, age, and fluctuations in weight can cause the skin and muscles on your abdomen to stretch and weaken, causing sagging skin and a tummy that protrudes. A tummy tuck can effectively remove sagging or stretched skin on your stomach, reshape and tighten your abdominal muscles, and remove unwanted pockets of fat. A tummy tuck can result in a return of your youthful, toned, slim abdomen.

Combining a lower body lift with abdominoplasty is popular with many of our patients at StarkMD Plastic Surgery & Aesthetic Center who are seeking a comprehensive correction of the body shape, for a dramatic level of body sculpting. Both a lower body lift and abdominoplasty can often be performed in one surgery, allowing you to have a single recovery time and achieve the combined results of these two procedures.

What should I expect with a body lift?

If you are choosing to dramatically improve your figure, you may choose to undergo a body lift, including both an upper body lift and lower body lift. These procedures may be performed in two stages, or a single procedure. These surgeries are performed under general anesthesia and will take several hours to complete. Excess skin, fat, and tissue is removed, with the remaining skin and tissue repositioned to recreate a firm, youthful appearance. The incisions are closed with sutures and bandaged when the surgery is complete.

Recovery

You will need several weeks to fully recover and must plan on having assistance from a trusted friend or family member during the first several days of your recovery. You will be wearing a compression garment to limit swelling and hold the restored tissues and skin in place during healing. Plan on two weeks off work or other activities, and four to six weeks before you will be ready to return to any vigorous activities. While a body lift requires a fairly lengthy recovery time, the results are well worth the wait.

Who is a good candidate
for a body lift?

If you are tired of seeing sagging breasts, flabby upper arms, drooping buttocks and dimpled, sagging thighs, you may be a candidate for a full body lift. To be safe to undergo this body restoring surgical treatment, you should meet the following criteria:

  • You should be in good general health and have no major medical issues
  • You want to restore a more youthful, firm contour to your lower or upper body, or both
  • If your treatment follows bariatric surgery, at least six months at a stable weight is necessary
  • You do not smoke or are willing to quit
