During the aging process, patients often notice a heavier appearance of their brows and forehead. Loss of elasticity in the skin of the forehead and a lowering brow can cause a sleepy, aged look. Our Philadelphia brow lift restores a more enlivened and youthful look to the face.

What is a brow lift?

Also known as a forehead rejuvenation or a forehead lift, a brow lift is a facial rejuvenation surgery targeting the brow line. During a brow lift, the temple and outer third of the brow are surgically lifted. A brow lift allows Dr. Ran Stark and Dr. Carey Campbell to correct sagging, remove excess skin, and improve the placement of the brow line. In addition to a more open, rested look, you can achieve better facial proportion and harmony of the features.

A brow lift can be performed on its own or along with other facial rejuvenation surgeries, including eyelid surgery, a facelift, or a neck lift. During your private, comprehensive consultation, our surgeons will review your needs and goals in order to help you select the procedure or procedures that may best attain your objectives.

A brow lift is performed under general anesthesia and typically lasts about two hours. Side effects can include swelling, numbness, and temporary hair loss.

Types of
brow lifts:

As board-certified plastic surgeons, Dr. Ran Stark and Dr. Carey Campbell always devote the full weight of their training and expertise to provide you with the safest and most effective possible surgical plan. You and our surgeons may choose one of several brow lifting surgical techniques, including:

Direct brow lift:

This is the least invasive of all brow lifts, yet very powerful! Using an incision hidden within the brow line excess skin is removed to position the brow exactly as desired.

Temporal brow lift:

This technique entails two small incisions on either side of the temporal region along the hair line. This technique is ideal for the patient that wants the tail of their brows slightly lifted.

Endoscopic brow lift:

To perform an endoscopic brow lift, Dr. Ran Stark and Dr. Carey Campbell utilize a tiny camera and extraordinarily thin tools. These specialized tools allow our surgeons to lift and smooth the brow area through a series of very small incisions. Our surgeons can achieve the objectives of many patients with less scarring and a shorter recovery time using the endoscopic brow lift technique.

Coronal brow lift:

During a coronal brow lift, one long incision is made just behind the hairline. Dr. Ran Stark and Dr. Carey Campbell remove excess skin, fat, and tissues through the incision. This technique is not recommended for those with a higher hairline, as the forehead area will be larger after surgery. Using the coronal brow lift method, our surgeons can attain a more dramatic lifting of the brow than is possible with other methods.

Hairline brow lift:

To complete a hairline brow lift, Dr. Ran Stark and Dr. Carey Campbell make a long incision along the hairline. As in the other brow lift methods, they lift the area and remove excess tissues through this incision. During a hairline brow lift, the forehead is shortened somewhat, making this a better choice for those with a naturally longer forehead.
