With dermal fillers, a more youthful, voluminous, and contoured face may now be easier to attain than ever before.

What are dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are substances designed and FDA approved to be injected under the skin to provide shape, volume, and contour in targeted treatment areas.

Different dermal fillers last for distinct time periods, often from six months to up to two years. Should you be willing and able to keep up with regular appointments to maintain your impressive results, dermal fillers may be a quicker, more affordable, and less invasive alternative to surgery for many patients. Dermal fillers can also assist in maintaining the results of past procedures, forestalling the need for further surgery

Dermal fillers vs. Botox

Unlike neuromodulators such as Botox, which softens wrinkles by immobilizing the underlying muscle, dermal fillers directly add volume and contour to the face or hands. In simplest terms, the dermal filler literally fills in the lines or wrinkles in the treatment area.

Which dermal filler is right for you?

The Juvéderm collection of fillers contains a modified form of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance of immense benefit to the skin. Juvéderm Voluma® lifts and adds volume to the cheeks. Juvéderm Vollure™ smooths away moderate to severe facial lines. Juvéderm Volbella® adds desired shape and plumpness to the lips. For those seeking plumper lips, Juvederm Ultra Plus XC delivers natural-looking, long-lasting results. And finally, Juvederm Ultra XC is a versatile filler that excels in treating fine lines and wrinkles around the nose and mouth.

The Juvéderm collection of fillers contains a modified form of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance of immense benefit to the skin. Each product in the Juvéderm® family has unique applications, including:

    • Juvéderm Voluma® XC lifts and adds volume to the cheeks.
    • Juvéderm Vollure™ XC plumps the skin and smooths away moderate to severe facial lines.
    • Juvéderm Volbella® XC is a soft filler that can smooth fine lines as well as reshape or plump up your lips.
    • Juvederm Ultra® XC is a versatile filler designed to plump up and shape your lips as well as smoothing and correcting moderate smile lines around your mouth.
    • Juvederm Ultra Plus® XC is a more dense form of Juvederm Ultra® XC that provides added volume, lift, and more dramatic results, ideal for reducing the appearance of severe creases and restoring volume to your cheeks.

The Restylane line of fillers is another highly effective and popular hyaluronic acid dermal filler. Restylane treatments can smooth moderate to severe facial lines and folds, subtly enhance lips and cheeks, and replace lost volume on the back of the hands. Fillers include Restylane Lyft®, Restylane, Restylane-L®, Restylane Defyne® and Restylane Refyne®.

Sculptra Aesthetic is a poly-l-lactic acid dermal filler. Sculptra injections stimulate your skin’s production of collagen to replace facial volume lost to aging. Sculptra treatment spans about three months and takes place over the course of up to four injection sessions. Currently, Sculptra is used for full face rejuvenation as well as non-facial areas. These areas can include improvement in the arms, hands, décolletage and buttocks.

Radiesse can treat moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds on the face, including nasolabial folds, and correct volume loss on the hands. Radiesse can both create lift and definition in the treatment areas and stimulate your body’s natural collagen production. Radiesse is also being used for non-facial areas such as the arms, hands, décolletage and buttocks.

Bellafill is a particularly long-lasting dermal filler, and is FDA approved to treat smile lines for up to five years. In addition, Bellafill is the only dermal filler FDA approved for the treatment of distensible acne scars for up to one year.

Belotero is an FDA-approved dermal injectable containing hyaluronic acid in a soft cohesive gel. This solution integrates into the facial tissues to smooth the skin. Hyaluronic acid (HA) binds with water in the body to hydrate and plump the skin, creating a natural, soft appearance.

Belotero injections not only restore lost facial volume, they also smooth etched-in wrinkles and lines by adding volume below the skin surface. Results of Belotero injections last for six months or longer depending upon the quantity injected. Because every patient is different, the number of injections needed will vary. The smoothing effect is immediate, and there is no downtime – just beautiful, smooth results.
