Technology has made available a wide variety of effective surgical and non-surgical cosmetic procedures to help us reach the ideals we’ve set for ourselves and our loved ones. While we at Stark MD Plastic Surgery and Aesthetic Center stand behind each of the services we deliver, we also believe it possible to select the perfect procedure—for you. Which is your best choice? And does that choice change over time, or based on conditions and concerns? Certainly. Breaking down the decision process into bite-sized bits of the most important information, the following comparatives should help you gain fuller confidence in your choices.
STUBBORN FAT REDUCTION | SURGICAL
Liposuction is an effective surgical procedure for fat reduction, as it physically removes that fat. Because it was the first in its field, liposuction is also something of the long-term go-to that has lost neither its appeal or its efficacy. It is a particularly good option for patients who are close to their ideal body weight, yet are struggling with pockets of stubborn fat. Unlike Coolsculpting or BodyTite which inherently required a series of treatments, liposuction may be able to remove all of the targeted fat in the concerned area in a single treatment. Liposuction is typically also part of the popular Philadelphia mommy makeover procedure.
TONING | DEFINITION | SCULPTING | SURGICAL
Traditional liposuction (discussed above) works by removing deep fat tissue. It isn’t fully possible to sculpt the body with it. That finer contouring, shaping and sculpting of the body require addressing the superficial and subdermal layers of skin, which is where High Def VASER Liposuction is particularly effective. High-Def Liposuction uses high frequency sound waves to liquify fat before removing it, without damage to surrounding tissue. It’s less aggressive than traditional liposuction and is much more effective in sculpting and increasing definition and tone.
STUBBORN FAT REMOVAL | NON-SURGICAL
Coolsculpting is a non-surgical fat reduction option. Unlike the more aggressive liposuction, it isn’t a major weight loss treatment, but essentially freezes fat cells to death. Coolsculpting is particularly good for healthy, active people who want to eliminate those stubborn fat pockets but a) have less volume in them and b) have more time in which to lose them, as rather than physically suctioning out fat cells, Coolsculpting requires your body to flush them out in from 1 to 3 month’s time.
STUBBORN FAT REMOVAL | SKIN TIGHTENING | NON-SURGICAL
BodyTite is a fresh, non-surgical alternative to liposuction. It uses radiofrequency waves to prompt the breakdown of fat cells, and can be used to treat any area of the body affected by excess skin. Additionally, the energy waves used stimulate the body’s own production of collagen. As with Coolsculpting, Philadelphia BodyTite is an effective option for fat reduction over a wide area that may not have as large of fatty deposits within it. BodyTite produces immediate results which only get better over time as the body continues to produce collagen and the skin continues to tighten.
